TIMING CHIPS
You will receive your timing chip at
registration on race day and attach it to
your ankle with the velcro strap provided.
Your timing chip relates to your bib number
so it’s important you don’t swap your chip
with anyone who has a different bib number.
Just like adult events, our competitors will
start in 3 waves – one for each age group,
with the girls, boys, and teams all starting
on the age group “gun”. As in championship
duathlon events, everyone in each age group
will be given the same start time:
0945 - All 11-13 years start
0946 - All 9-10 years start
0947 - All 7-8 years start.
Just like the Olympics we will be awarding
first place to the first person and team in
each age group to cross the finish line.
As each individual and team will be wearing
electronic chips, the individual and team
time will be automatically recorded as they
cross the finish and we will publish all the
times on the web so everyone can see how
well they did – a real reward for the
tremendous effort everyone has put in
leading up to and on the day.
Timing chips are expensive pieces of
equipment – buckets will be provided at the
end of the race to return chips to. If you
lose your chip, you will be charged the $25
cost of replacing the chip.
NOTE FOR TEAMS: as the runner does not cross
the finish line after completing their part
of the race, only the cyclist needs to wear
the timing chip. This will avoid any
potential for disappointment if a timing
chip was dropped during a team swap in the
transition area.
